Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral researcher recruited will be involved in a research project supported by the French National Research Agency, in collaboration with INSERM and IPHC. He/she will be responsible for preparing compounds of interest (peptides and polymers) and their use in liquid-liquid phase separation processes for water purification. He/she will manage several projects in parallel in this field of activity. In addition, he/she will also supervise PhD students and/or M2/M1 interns.
Activity
- Design and synthesise original peptide derivatives capable of self-assembling under the action of a suitable enzyme.
- Synthesise polymers decorated with peptides.
- Prepare thin multilayer polyelectrolyte films.
- Characterise peptide and polymer coacervates in solution and on surfaces using spectroscopy and electron microscopy tools.
- Set up a continuous flow filtration device.
- Evaluate and optimise the performance of the flow device.
Your Profil
Skills
Excellent general knowledge of organic synthesis and chemistry, as well as peptide synthesis (on solid supports and in solution)
• Operational mastery of various chemical synthesis techniques, characterisation of soft matter (hydrogels, thin films).
• Knowledge of application areas: molecular, macromolecular and supramolecular chemistry. Chemical and enzymatic catalysis.
• Good IT skills: database management, Python language, spreadsheets.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
Your Work Environment
The postdoctoral researcher will join the Charles Sadron Institute (ICS). The ICS brings together 53 researchers and lecturers, 38 engineers, technicians and administrative staff, and around 100 doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, associate researchers and interns. Located in Cronenbourg, the ICS is a 'Proprietary Unit' (UPR 22) of the CNRS, associated with the CNRS Institute of Chemistry (INC) and interacting closely with the Institute of Physics (INP) and the Institute of Engineering and Systems Sciences (INSIS). The Charles Sadron Institute is also associated with the University of Strasbourg and INSA Strasbourg, with strong links to the Physics and Engineering Department, ECPM and the Faculty of Chemistry. The Institute is also a key player in the Mica Carnot Institute and the Grand Est Materials and Nanosciences Research Federation, and is involved in numerous national and international networks. Structured into seven research teams and four platforms, the ICS brings together 53 researchers and teacher-researchers, 38 engineers, technicians and administrative staff, and around 100 doctoral students, post-docs, associate researchers and interns.
In addition, the ICS is located on a green campus that is easily accessible by public transportation. Candidates will have access to a nearby staff restaurant at a subsidized rate. The ICS also has a fully equipped cafeteria. Partial reimbursement of transportation costs may be requested.
