The proposed work concerns the synthesis and characterisation of chiral organic compounds (biaryls and helicenes) for their incorporation into elastomers. The preparation and characterisation of these materials is also part of the tasks of this position. The use of NMR, circular dichroism, analytical and preparative HPLC will be necessary for the synthesis of the target compounds. The mechanical properties of the prepared elastomers and the behaviour of the polymer chains under stretching will also be studied.

This research will be carried out at the Charles Sadron Institute in Strasbourg (Cronenbourg campus). In particular, the person recruited will integrate the team Polyélectrolytes Complexes et Matériaux (PECMAT) which focuses on the synthesis and engineering of surface coatings and stimuli-responsive materials. This work will be supervised by Loïc Jierry.
