Work Context

The Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées is recruiting an engineer to ensure developments for the information system of the IAGOS project (In-service Aircraft for Global Observing System). IAGOS is a European Research Infrastructure aiming to build, in collaboration with international airlines, a network of about twenty airliners equipped with a fully automatic instrumentation dedicated to collecting observations of the composition of the atmosphere and for climate monitoring.
The IAGOS Data Center is based at the Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées Observatory (OMP) in Toulouse, France, more specifically in the OMP Data Service (SEDOO). It consists of a database and a Data Portal that are funded by the French Data and Services Center for the Atmosphere called AERIS. The portal allows researchers from around the world to access IAGOS data.
As part of the ENVRI-FAIR project, funded by the European Commission and starting in January 2019, the IAGOS Data Center must provide data and services that respect the FAIR aspects (see https://www.force11.org/group/fairgroup/fairprinciples for the definition of FAIR principles). This involves many developments to better manage the IAGOS data life cycle: data processing and data qualification, database, portal, production of added value products and services. For this, it is required to standardize the metadata and the format of the data, and to set up interoperability protocols defined at European level.
ENVRI-FAIR will last over a period of four years (2019-2022) which implies that the contract can be extended for the duration of the project.

Additional Information

The ENVRI-FAIR is a H2020 project of 4 years starting on January 1st 2019. It involves the European Research Infrastructures of the Environmental domain and aims to build and improve their data centres to provide data and services that respect the FAIR aspects through the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
