Job Description

Missions

The successful candidate will contribute to the research project funded by the Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale (FRM), entitled “ApoE-mediated glial interactions in retinal repair”. Building on previous work identifying ApoE as a potential regulator of Müller glia activation, the successful candidate will characterize the molecular mechanisms through which ApoE controls Müller glia plasticity and their response to retinal injury.

The postdoctoral researcher will use complementary approaches in Xenopus and mouse models to characterize the function and mechanisms of action of ApoE in retinal regeneration.
• Experimental models of retinal degeneration in Xenopus and mice;
• Genetic and pharmacological modulation of ApoE signaling;
• Molecular biology, histology, and imaging approaches;
• Transcriptomic analyses;
• Scientific writing and presentation of research findings.

Your Profil

Skills

-Theoretical knowledge:
• Neurobiology and retinal biology;
• Stem cell biology and regeneration;
• Developmental biology;
• Neuroinflammation.

Technical skills:
• Experimental work with Xenopus and mouse models;
• Retinal injury models;
• CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing;
• Microdissection and preparation of retinal samples;
• Histology and immunostaining;
• Confocal and in vivo imaging;
• Transcriptomic and bioinformatic data analysis.

Personal skills:
• Motivation, rigor, autonomy, creativity, and initiative.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and in a collaborative environment.

Your Work Environment

The Paris-Saclay Institute of Neuroscience (NeuroPSI) is a joint research institute of the CNRS and Université Paris-Saclay, located in Saclay and comprising 25 research teams (~300 people).
The successful candidate will join the “Stem Cells and Neurogenesis in the Retina” (SCaNR) research team, under the supervision of the team leader, Muriel Perron. The team investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms controlling Müller glia plasticity and retinal regeneration, notably through comparative approaches in Xenopus and mouse models.
