Missions
The post-doctoral researcher will have the primary mission of studying the electrodeposition of palladium for the electrocatalysis of carbon dioxide (CO₂) into carbon monoxide (CO). This mission includes conducting in-depth electrochemical studies to understand the CO₂ reduction mechanism, as well as advanced characterizations using microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The selected candidate will also contribute to the operational management of the research group, supervise master's students, and ensure the smooth functioning of the laboratory.
Activités
- Conduct in-depth electrochemical studies to elucidate the CO₂ reduction mechanism.
- Perform advanced characterizations using microscopy and X-ray diffraction.
- Conduct scientific monitoring related to the research topic.
- Prepare written reports and communicate results according to the funder's recommendations.
- Participate in research seminars.
- Supervise master's and undergraduate students within the research group.
- Participate in the maintenance tasks of the research group's equipment and the laboratory.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to master's students.
- Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of the laboratory, guaranteeing compliance with safety and efficiency standards.
Compétences
This postdoctoral fellowship is funded as part of a collaborative research project, and we are seeking highly motivated candidates with a PhD in electrochemistry or physical chemistry. The candidate should have solid experience in electrochemistry and be well-versed in advanced mechanistic analysis techniques. Expertise in characterization using microscopy and X-ray diffraction will be particularly appreciated.
The candidate will work in a dynamic and collaborative scientific environment within a team composed of PhD students and post-doctoral researchers. He or she should be ready to engage in the life of the group and actively participate in the training and supervision of students.
Contexte de travail
The post-doctoral researcher will be integrated into the Molecular Chemistry Laboratory (LCM, UMR 9168) at École Polytechnique, as part of a research project funded by Europe in collaboration with industrial partners. The LCM, located at the heart of the Saclay plateau, comprises a diverse and multidisciplinary team of about 50 researchers, engineers, technicians, and PhD students.
The research themes developed at LCM focus on the interface between fundamental science and industrial applications, particularly in the fields of electrochemistry and electrocatalysis. All aspects, from the most fundamental to the most applied, are addressed, with a particular emphasis on innovation and the development of sustainable solutions.
The laboratory maintains close collaborations with international academic and industrial groups, fostering a rich and stimulating research environment. Situated in a privileged setting, the LCM benefits from the advantages of a campus renowned for its scientific excellence, thus providing a pleasant and creativity-conducive working environment.
