We are looking for an ambitious and motivated researcher to join our team “Membrane Dynamics & Viruses” (MDV) led by Dr. Raphael Gaudin, part of the IRIM institute located on the CNRS campus of Montpellier, France. The project aims at recording and connecting electrical activity in neural cells to a robot in order to study the neural plasticity and underlying mechanisms in vitro. The successful candidate will work at the interface with a post-doctoral researcher from th lab of Dr. Ganesh Gowrishankar (LIRMM, Montpellier), whom will develop machine learning algorithms for electrical signal processing (see ad: xxx).
The contract will be established for 18 months renewable.
Stem cell culture, differentiation and culture of neural cells and organoids, human tissue explant culture, electrical activity recording on microelectrode arrays (MEA), immunostaining preparation and confocal microscopy imaging, classical molecular and cell biology techniques, RT-qPCR, western blot, flow cytometry, virus production.
Expertise in MEA electrophysiology, 2D/3D neural cell culture and microscopy.
Good written and oral skills are required. French is not a prerequisite.
The proposed project will take place in the beautiful coastal city of Montpellier, in the south of France.
The IRIM institute is located on the CNRS campus, gathering vibrant research labs specialized in cell biology, genetics, infectiology, neurobiology and ecology. The campus hosts high-end microscopy, flow cytometry and biosafety level 2 and 3 facilities. The candidate will benefit from a very dynamic workplace and a stimulating international scientific and social environment.
Constraints and risks
The candidate may have to work in L2 and L3 lab.
