Job Description
Missions
LISIS (CNRS/INRAE/Gustave Eiffel University joint research unit) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for an 18-month contract. The successful candidate will be tasked with analysing habitability, a topic at the heart of the PEPR TRANSFORM program, as a “wicked problem,” that is, a complex, ambiguous, and evolving problem that cannot be resolved through routine and standardized public-policy tools.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting a state-of-the-art review of the literature on “wicked problems,” in order to design an analytical framework for these problems and apply it to the issue of habitability.
They will also be responsible for organizing seminars with public-policy experts and practitioners engaged in managing environmental issues that contribute to the broader and more complex problem of habitability.
Finally, they will organize a conference to share and discuss the results of the research conducted, as well as the seminars, on the governance of wicked problems.
The postdoctoral project is part of the POP targeted project within PEPR TRANSFORM (CNRS page), and will be carried out at LISIS (umr-lisis.fr), the pilot unit for action 1 of the targeted project. The postdoctoral research will be conducted in coordination with the other actions of the targeted project, notably action 2 (territorial experimentation with modes of habitability management / UMR Innovation and the INRAE research unit at Saint-Laurent-de-la-Prée) and action 3 (testing instruments for debating habitability, IRD, IGE, OSUG, IEP Grenoble).
Activity
• Conduct a state-of-the-art review on wicked problems and on selected environmental problems (bibliographic synthesis).
• Participate in a bibliometric analysis in collaboration with a research engineer.
• Conduct interviews and organize regular seminars.
• Write a scientific article for an international journal.
• Organize a conference.
Your Profil
Skills
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in the social sciences, with expertise in public policy analysis and the sociology of public action. Candidates must demonstrate proven skills in literature review, interview-based research, and the organization of seminars and scientific events. Experience in bibliometric analysis will be an asset.
Candidates must be able to work as part of a team. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required, as well as a good command of English, both written and spoken.
Your Work Environment
LISIS is a joint research unit of CNRS, INRAE, and Gustave Eiffel University. Its members mobilize the methods, concepts, and perspectives of the social sciences needed to understand transformations linked to science and technology in contemporary societies — from science and technology studies and innovation studies to sociology, economics, management and organization studies, and computational social sciences, thanks to its CorText platform for analysing digital and textual data.
The successful candidate will join the team of researchers participating in PEPR TRANSFORM, under the supervision of François Dedieu and David Demortain. They will also join and contribute to the activities of the laboratory's thematic groups, and will be invited to interact with members of relevant associated research projects.
