Missions
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and multiple myeloma (MM) are severe hematologic disorders of the bone marrow. Although new therapies have improved patient management, many individuals relapse and become refractory to treatment, highlighting the need for innovative therapeutic approaches.
A promising strategy would be to target genes that are essential for the maintenance of AML/MM but escape mutation-driven changes because they are vital for the survival of transformed cells. This project aims to exploit this (onco)genic dependency by focusing on the gene encoding the transcription factor MYB, a hematopoietic “master regulator” to which AML and MM cells show strong addiction. Through a multidisciplinary consortium combining expertise in epigenetics, clinical research, and chemical engineering, we aim to decipher the regulation of MYB in AML and MM and to develop new therapeutic molecules targeting MYB, with the goal of expanding current clinical options.
