Missions

The project is part of a collaborative programme bringing together three main teams from the IGH: Philippe Pasero, project coordinator, Marcel Méchali, scientific advisor for the project, the teams led by Monsef Benkirane and Jihane Basbous, and Marcelo Nollman's team (CBS, Montpellier). The position is open for a period of one year, renewable for up to four years.

Activités

The project concerns the initiation of replication in human cells. Several fundamental genetic and epigenetic characteristics that shape the recognition and organisation of replication origins have been revealed in recent years at the IGH. The successful candidate will be required to develop a project focusing on the involvement of nuclear structures and the 3D organisation of the genome in replication initiation. Developments in therapeutic applications are expected.

Compétences

We are looking for candidates with strong intellectual and experimental expertise in DNA replication or nuclear metabolism and the 3D-genome. We particularly welcome applications from enthusiastic, creative, and motivated scientists. A comprehensive expertise in essential experimental techniques by the candidate, particularly in cell and molecular biology and biochemistry, is expected.
Excellent communication skills are also desired.

Contexte de travail

The IGH is a modern CNRS-University of Montpellier Institute, located on the Montpellier university and hospital campus. The IGH generates a stimulating and international research environment with a high-quality and intensive scientific life, weekly internal and external seminars, and frequent symposia. The usual working language is English. The IGH receives financial support from several national institutions and international grants, with 12 ERC grants in the field of genome and epigenome.
Montpellier is one of France's liveliest cities, close to the sea and the mountains. It is a city with a very high concentration of researchers, particularly in the genetic and epigenetic structure of chromosomes and nuclear metabolism. It is well connected to Paris and other European cities.
The IGH is located on the Arnaud de Villeneuve campus, which is part of the Pro-Bike Employer programme.
