Missions

Two postdoctoral positions are available, one from December 2018 and a second one in 2019 to study the relation between transgenerational epigenetic inheritance and 3D genome organization in Drosophila in the lab of Giacomo Cavalli. This position is funded by an advanced grant of the European Research Council (ERC).

Activités

Drosophila has been a tremendously successful model system for the study of genomics and epigenomics. Our lab has uncovered the spatial organizational principles of the fly genome and shown that Polycomb proteins can mediate epigenetic inheritance through development and, under certain circumstances, transgenerationally. The project will combine genetics, epigenomics and high-end-microscopy with the power of genome engineering techniques and aims at providing fundamental mechanistic insights into the architectural function of chromosomal elements that are essential to stabilize Polycomb-mediated gene silencing

Compétences

- Candidates must have an outstanding CV, highly motivated and hardworking. - - - Experience in fly genetics, epigenetics, molecular and cell biology, wet- and computational analysis of transcription, epigenomics, 3D genomics data and cutting-edge microscopy approaches will be important.

Contexte de travail

The work, in the framework of an ERC-funded project, will be performed in the laboratory of Giacomo Cavalli at the Institute of Human Genetics (IGH). IGH is a flagship institute for life science research and is located in the vibrant city of Montpellier, in the southern French riviera. It offers state of the art equipments and facilities in a top-notch international environment.
