Job Description
Missions
Conduct a research project aimed at measuring the dynamics of nuclear-cytoplasmic transport at the single-molecule level at milliseconds rate in the context of super-resolved nuclear pores. This project, in close collaboration with Dr C. Doucet's team (CBS, Montpellier), aims to develop a new microscopy method (SPEED-SMLM) that will enable the tracking of single molecules translocating through the nuclear pore in living cells at a speed of around one millisecond. The successful candidate will participate in the development of the microscope and then in the development of image analysis pipelines, and will carry out mathematical modelling of nucleocytoplasmic transport dynamics in various biological conditions.
Activity
Activity 1: Select, develop, adapt, and write protocols for obtaining and analyzing images (select, introduce, and implement new experimental procedures to address scientific questions related to the project).
Activity 2: Conduct experiments by adapting experimental conditions and applying a range of techniques (image analysis, optimization of acquisition conditions, mathematical modeling of nucleocytoplasmic transport).
Activity 3: Analyze and present the results, ensuring their follow-up and quality (interpret scientific results, develop new perspectives and hypotheses based on findings, format results, and present and discuss them in meetings with the team leader and the entire team).
Activity 4: Write experiment or study reports and technical notes (maintain a rigorous and precise electronic lab notebook documenting both experimental conditions and results, draft protocols, and prepare materials and methods sections for publications, etc.).
Activity 5: Manage and organize technical resources within a scientific project.
Activity 6: Operate dedicated equipment and ensure its proper functioning.
Activity 7: Train internal and external stakeholders in the principles and implementation of image analysis and mathematical modeling techniques (train students, engineers, and external collaborators).
Activity 8: Apply hygiene and safety regulations.
Activity 9: Conduct scientific and technological bibliography.
Activity 11: Contribute to the dissemination and valorization of results through oral presentations and publications (give oral presentations in internal seminars to all IGH members, present posters or oral presentations at conferences, draft and review publications in collaboration with the team leader and other involved members, etc.).
Activity 14: Participate in shared tasks and laboratory organization (orders, administrative tasks, cleaning, and organizing the laboratory, etc.)

Your Work Environment
The Institute of Human Genetics (IGH) is a joint research unit (CNRS-University of Montpellier). The unit has a staff of 220 people and is divided into three departments. The researcher will work within the Nuclear Architecture in Physiology and Pathology team, under the supervision of Dr. C. Boumendil (CRCN, CNRS). The IGH is located on the Arnaud de Villeneuve campus, which participates in the Pro-Vélo Employer Objective program.
