Missions

The objective of the study is to evaluate the ability of GaN nanowires with InGaN insertions functionalized with new photocatalysts to generate hydrogen. To achieve this objective, the postdoctoral researcher's (M/F) mission will be to characterize the nanowires in terms of density and height, evaluate their doping, measure the InGaN composition, deposit a Ga2O3 shell and characterize it, and functionalize the surfaces of nanoparticles with catalysts (Pt, Ni, and Cu).

Activities

The postdoctoral researcher (M/F) will work in the cleanroom environment of the C2N to carry out nanowire oxidations, scanning electron microscopy measurements, electrical measurements, surface modification and encapsulation processes, and hydrogen generation experiments. The postdoctoral researcher (M/F) will also process the data and write scientific reports on the obtained results.

Skills

The candidate (M/F) must hold a PhD in materials science or chemistry. He/she must have experience in handling, characterizing, and functionalizing nanomaterials. Knowledge of catalytic processes is required.

Work Context

The postdoctoral position, funded by the PsiNano PANACHE project, is at the interface between materials science, physics, and chemistry. The postdoctoral researcher (M/F) will split their time between two partner laboratories: C2N (70% of the time) and ICP (30% of the time). The postdoctoral researcher (M/F) will carry out the characterization and modification of nanomaterials at C2N, then use these samples for hydrogen synthesis at ICP.

The position is located in a sector under the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with the regulations, that your arrival is authorized by the competent authority of the MESR.

Constraints and risks

Work in the cleanroom environement, use of chemicals

Additional Information

Work within the framework of the PsiNano PANACHE project. The main workplace is the Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (C2N), 10 Boulevard Thomas Gobert, 91120 Palaiseau, France.
