Job Description
Missions
The role expected of the person recruited for this position will be the exploration of coherent nonlinearities in novel intersubband polaritonic architectures at mid-infrared wavelengths. Intersubband polaritons, hybrid quasi-particles combining light and electronic transitions, form a promising system for achieving lasing without population inversion, based on the final-state stimulation regime. In pursuit of this goal, ultrafast pump-probe spectroscopy experiments make it possible to identify and explore the nonlinearities at the heart of this phenomenon, in order to improve them and reach a gain regime in these systems. The experimental research will be carried out using semiconductor cavities fabricated with the nanotechnology facilities available at C2N, and using an MIR pump-probe spectroscopy setup recently developed within the team.
Activity
the design of polaritonic systems, which will subsequently be fabricated in the C2N cleanroom
the performance of ultrafast pump-probe optical spectroscopy measurements at MIR wavelengths on the fabricated devices
the analysis of experimental data and its interpretation in collaboration with theorists in the field
Your Profil
Skills
experience with ultrafast optical spectroscopy techniques
solid knowledge of solid-state physics, optics, and quantum mechanics
skills in developing numerical simulation code and programming experimental instrument control
experience with nanofabrication processes is a plus
Your Work Environment
The person recruited will join the ODIN team and will work closely with Jean-Michel Manceau and Raffaele Colombelli within the Photonics Department at C2N. This laboratory is located at the heart of Université Paris-Saclay and has access to a large nanotechnology facility. The person recruited will work with PhD students from the team. They will take part in weekly group meetings, where they will present and discuss their results. They will also have the opportunity to present their results at national and international conferences.
