The candidate will study a new concept of scalable and low power magnetic memory (Spin Orbit Torque Magnetic Random Access Memory) based on realizing modulation of magnetic properties by using ion irradiation. The magnetic properties in magnetic thin films will be tailored by using ion irradiation induced interface engineering. Irradiation through a lithography mask and Focused Ion Beam techniques will also allow the creation of pattern of magnetic properties across a film or nanodevice.

We are looking for a student with a good background in condensed matter physics including very good knowledge in spintronics, magnetic materials and memory technologies.
The research will be done in the Nano-Electronic Dpt (60 members) at the Center For Nanoscience and Nanotechnology headed by D.Ravelosona and benefit from the largest clean room in France. This group gathers a wide expertise in charge and spin electronics with state of the art know-how in thin film deposition, ion irradiation process, nano-device fabrication and characterization, microwave instrumentation, simulations and theory, and circuit architectures for CMOS and beyond CMOS electronics
