Take a responsible role in the operation of the MUGAST Si Strip array and associated cryogenic target
Analyze and interpret data from experiments performed at GANIL and at other facilities
Present and publish the results
Participate in the elaboration of the new Si-strip array GRIT


Participation in experimental campaigns at GANIL
Participation in experiments at the ALTO (Orsay) and RIKEN (Japan) facilities
Testing nuclear detectors; Debugging hardware and software
Analyzing and interpreting experimental data
Writing scientific reports and articles
Presenting scientific results in meetings and conferences


Knowledge of nuclear structure and reactions
Experience with using gamma-ray and/or charged particle detectors in accelerator based experiments, preferably with radioactive beams
Programming knowledge in C++
Experience with Root and GEANT4 software
Ability to work independently and in teams
Excellent oral and written skills in English

Work Context

The Institut de Physique Nucléaire of Orsay (IPNO - UMR CNRS/Université Paris-Sud) is a research laboratory with a staff of around 300 collaborators located on the Orsay campus (25 km south of Paris) whose scientific activity, national and international, is mainly centered in nuclear and hadronic physics, astroparticles, radiochemistry, studies on energy scenarios, as well as construction of accelerators and detectors.

The researcher will work in the NESTER group of IPNO (Noyaux Exotiques STructure et Réaction) with frequent stays at GANIL in Caen (Normandy)
