Job Description

Missions

The International Research Center on Environment and Development (Centre International de Recherche en Environnement et Développement, CIRED) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in economics as part of its SentientBCA (Sentientist Benefit-Cost Analysis) research program, funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). This research program is led by Romain Espinosa for CIRED and is conducted in collaboration with Stéphane Zuber from the Centre d'Économie de la Sorbonne (CES).

The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the SentientBCA research program. This program aims to advance economic research on the inclusion of non-human animal welfare in cost-benefit analyses. The research work includes, among other things, surveys of representative population samples on pro-social preferences regarding animal welfare, the management of trade-offs between the interests of the various parties involved, and citizens' political preferences on the subject.

Activity

The position involves all the usual activities associated with economic research, including:
- Scientific literature review;
- Designing surveys and experimental designs;
- Setting up online data collection tools;
- Data analysis using R;
- Writing scientific articles;
- Co-organizing scientific events;
- Peer-reviewing articles.

Your Profil

Skills

The required skills include all those necessary for preparing, implementing, and conducting economic research. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Teamwork;
- Project management;
- Advanced skills in experimental economics;
- Advanced data analysis skills;
- Advanced skills in pre-registration;
- Proficiency in English (working language).

Your Work Environment

The postdoctoral researcher will benefit from two affiliations:
- The primary affiliation will be with CIRED, located at the Nogent-sur-Marne laboratory. Their work will be supervised by Romain Espinosa (CNRS Research Fellow). https://www.centre-cired.fr/
- They will also have a secondary affiliation with CES, located at the Maison des Sciences Économiques in Paris. Their local contact will be Stéphane Zuber (CNRS Research Director). https://ces.pantheonsorbonne.fr/
The recruited individual may also collaborate with members of other project partners.
