Missions
The person recruited must demonstrate a very good knowledge of the history of the Jewish Muslim world in the Maghreb and a good knowledge of Jewish and/or Muslim texts and/or of the artisanal trades of this region. He or she must be familiar with the debates that animate the questions of decolonial discourse, restitution and reparation, and the writing of potential histories (which take into consideration the lasting effects of colonization on the transmission of indigenous knowledge and offer a methodology to renew this knowledge and the chains of transmission), while demonstrating a willingness to develop collective research around these subjects.
Activités
· Conduct research and participate in collective research on the infrastructure of craftsmanship that has shaped the Jewish Muslim world since the birth of Islam to the present day, including the know-how, norms, languages, laws, traditions, and cosmologies.
· Participate in the scheduling of meetings, conferences, and workshops of ancestral knowledge transmission, and accompany the invitations of researchers, artisans, artists, and teachers.
· Coordinate the activities of the collective research project (conferences, workshops, exhibitions, documentation)
· Coordinate and edit the collection of articles from participants in the collective research on the Active life in the Jewish Muslim world
· Collect oral history on the jewelry making processes from artisans and guardians, their circulation and uses, Jewish and/or Islamic laws, regulations and taqqanot, and trade routes in Africa and around the Mediterranean.
Compétences
The recruited person should have knowledge and experience in some of these research directions mentioned above (history of the Jewish Muslim world, artisanal work, decolonial studies, and discussions and practices of restitution and reparation), read or speak Arabic or Judeo-Arabic, be able to work collectively and programing events.
