Missions

Reporting to the project's scientific coordinator, you will contribute to estimating changes in the environmental footprint of French household food consumption and its heterogeneity between households.

Activities

- Test, select and improve different algorithms to automate the calculation of average ingredient compositions of food products purchased by French households. Document these algorithms and make them available to the scientific community, in the form of easy-to-use Stata or Python scripts, and following the FAIR standard (Findability, Accessability, Interoperability, and Reuse of digital assets).
- Edit and make available to researchers Kantar WorldPanel consumption data (2002-2019), and derive aggregated consumption statistics for comparison with public sources (national accounts, Family Budgets survey).
- Participate in drafting and monitoring the PREFALIM project's Data Management Plan.
- Participate in drafting the "Material & Method" section of scientific articles.
- Organize the annual PREFALIM project meeting/conference at PSE. Write minutes of meetings, and contribute to the communication of the PREFALIM project to the general public, PEPR Fair Carbon and ANR.

Skills

You have an M2-level degree with skills in programming and statistics, econometrics, data science or applied mathematics.

Skills required:
- Very good command of the French language (B2 level), necessary for understanding correspondences between food nomenclatures;
- Mastery of Stata programming, Python programming basis, and ability to quickly learn computer languages adapted to data processing and modeling;
- Skills in statistical and/or econometric analysis and database management.

Appreciated skills :
- Experience in econometric analysis of general population surveys;
- Experience in coding complex algorithms, and implementing machine learning and fuzzy matching techniques;
- Proficiency in online database extraction methods (web-scrapping, ...).

Personal skills :
- Interest in compiling and harmonizing large-scale databases to inform public and academic debate;
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Ability to respect objectives, procedures and deadlines;
- Autonomy, technical initiative and accountability;
- Analytical mind, understanding of mathematical formalization and ability to make technical proposals;
- Organized, rigorous and able to summarize

Work Context

Position located at UMR PjSE (48 Boulevard Jourdan, 75014 Paris);
Coordinators and participants in the PREFALIM project, Manager of the INRAE ODALIM platform.
Possibility of telecommuting two days a week with remote access to computing servers.
