Job Description
Missions
The Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on the dynamic and statistical analysis of the tipping points of the subpolar gyre and the North Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), and/or their potential impacts on extreme weather events.
Activity
- Analysis of various simulated datasets from major international models, such as CMIP
- Statistical analysis using dynamic approaches (emulators or otherwise) of tipping point precursors
- Study of potential impacts of tipping points on extreme events
- Development of possible scenarios and assessment of the feasibility of implementing algorithms for rare events
Your Profil
Skills
- Degree in mathematics, or physical sciences, or climate sciences
- In-depth knowledge of climate dynamics, the oceans, and/or ocean-atmosphere-ice interactions
Your Work Environment
The postdoctoral researcher will work at the LMD on the ENS campus. He or she will be part of the DPA team. He or she will work under the supervision of Freddy Bouchet and collaborate with the members of his group. He or she will have access to all the resources necessary for his or her work.
