Job Description

Missions

The project involves synthesizing new fluorescent heptazines capable of stacking into columns in order to amplify their fluorescence and, if possible, trigger a singlet-triplet inversion in the organized material. The organization will be triggered by thiols with long alkyl chains, but other moieties, such as alkylcarbazoles, will also be linked to the heptazine ring to promote charge transfer between the electron-deficient heptazine ring and the other heterocycle; the electron-donating character can be modified depending on the effects of substituents (including substituted chains). Once the syntheses are complete, a study of the fluorescence of the new molecules will be conducted, both in steady-state and time-resolved modes, to evaluate the exchange between the singlet and triplet states. Finally, the new molecules will be studied by Prof. Kailasam's group (INST Mohali, India) to evaluate their photocatalytic properties.

Activity

- organic synthesis of new heptazines
- photophysical characterization (UV-Vis absorption, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence) of the compounds obtained
- electrochemical characterization
- exploration of photocatalytic properties

Your Profil

Skills

- expertise in heterocyclic chemistry, particularly in the chemistry of heptazines
- knowledge of photophysics and electrochemistry

Your Work Environment

The postdoctoral fellow will work at the PPSM laboratory on the ENS Paris-Saclay campus. The PPSM is a laboratory focused on molecules and materials that can be stimulated by light or electrons, bringing together expertise ranging from the synthesis of new compounds to the development of innovative instrumentation for studying their photophysical properties. In particular, the postdoctoral fellow will work on a Franco-Indian project funded by CEFIPRA, whose objective is the synthesis of new heptazines active in photocatalysis.
