As part of a collaborative project involving several industrial partners and aimed at demonstrating breakthrough technologies for a new generation of fiber optic telecommunications implementing spatial data multiplexing, you will be responsible for identifying optimal architectures for optical amplifiers incorporating technology bricks from the laboratory and its industrial partners. You will base yourself on prospecting the state of the art and the scientific literature in fiber telecommunications, modeling, experimental characterizations as well as the skills and know-how of the laboratory and its partners.
o Design of optical amplifiers;
o Definition of merit factors for different amplifier architectures;
o Development and configuration of algorithms for modeling the amplification of systems implementing spatial data multiplexing;
o Design and implementation of prototype systems;
o Synthesis and dissemination of results;
o Participation in the development and management of projects;
o Training in Optics or Photonics;
o Knowledge in Optoelectronics
o Experience in design or implementation of fiber amplifiers;
o Good knowledge of the Telecom context;
o Decision-making capacity/sense of initiative;
o Project management;
o Fluency in written and spoken English;
o Good writing skills;
The successful candidate will be attached to the Laboratory of Physics of Lasers, Atoms and Molecules (PhLAM), a joint research unit, under the dual supervision of the CNRS and the University of Lille. He (She) will join the photonics team based at IRCICA, located in the Haute Borne scientific activity park in Villeneuve d'Ascq. The photonics team designs, produces, manufactures and characterizes next-generation optical fibers and components based on the FiberTech Lille platform (https://fibertech.univ-lille.fr/fr/accueil).
