Missions

The post-doctoral fellow will be responsible for developing recipes for depositing magnetic thin films and the associated technological processes for integrating them for applications in spintronics (skyrmion devices, magnetoelectric devices), multiphysics micro-sensors (Surface Acoustic Waves-SAW, micro-resonators, etc.) and THz technologies, as part of the Spintronics PEPR project. In particular, the deposits will be developed on the new Elettrorava 12-cathode deposition machine recently acquired by the IEMN. The person recruited will be involved in the development of these various projects and will be part of the consortium for the PEPR spintronics ADAGE project.

Activités

- development of magnetic thin film sputtering recipes
- Characterization and optimisation
- Study of thermal treatments/annealing
- development of clean room processes for integration into devices
- co-supervision of a PhD student working on surface acoustic wave magnetic sensors, with the Jean Lamour institute as part of the project.

Compétences

The candidate will preferably have a background in physical sciences or engineering sciences, and a profile geared towards experimental work and technological development. A PhD in a field related to magnetism, thin film deposition or clean room technology development is highly desirable.
Other skills :
- Ability to adapt and work as part of a team, while remaining autonomous
- Ability to communicate and share results
- Good level of written and spoken English; knowledge of French appreciated but not necessary.

Contexte de travail

The work will be carried out as part of the PEPR Spintronique programme and will involve the development of thin-film materials for various moonshot projects of the PEPR, in particular the ADAGE project, with a strong potential for publications. The post-doc will be based at the IEMN, which is collaborating on this subject with a number of laboratories (C2N, IJL, CEA SPEC, SPINTEC, Lab A. Fert, Lab Phys ENS, etc.).

Le poste se situe dans un secteur relevant de la protection du potentiel scientifique et technique (PPST), et nécessite donc, conformément à la réglementation, que votre arrivée soit autorisée par l'autorité compétente du MESR.

Contraintes et risques

Much of the work will be carried out in the IEMN's Micro and Nano-fabrication centre. As a result, appropriate safety training will be required on arrival at the laboratory.
