Job Description

Missions

• Optimization of the properties of lead-free piezoelectric thin films
• Simulation, design, and fabrication of integrated cantilever-type microgenerators
• Design of power management circuits suitable for the low power levels generated

Activity

• Thin-film deposition (sputtering, ALD, PECVD)
• Multiphysics characterization (XRD, SEM, AFM, Raman, electrical measurements), with particular emphasis on piezoelectric measurements
• Surface analysis and functional property characterization
• Micro/nanofabrication (lithography, ICP-RIE etching, DRIE)

Your Profil

Skills

PhD diploma in Materials Science, Electronics, or Micro-/Nanotechnologies.
Skills in microfabrication technologies (cleanrooms, thin films, lithography, etching) and microsystems (MEMS).
Knowledge of functional materials (piezoelectric and ferroelectric materials) applied to energy harvesting.
Experience in electrical characterization and microsystem modeling would be an asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple sites.

Your Work Environment

The Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN) is a joint research unit of the CNRS (UMR CNRS 8520). The institute operates across several sites: in Villeneuve-d'Ascq on the Lille 1 campus, in Lille at the JUNIA Engineering School, in Valenciennes on the campus of the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (UPHF), and at École Centrale de Lille on the Lille 1 campus.
This position is intended for the IEMN Valenciennes site, which is part of UPHF. The IEMN Valenciennes site has a total staff of approximately 100 people, including 40 faculty members and researchers, 10 BIATSS administrative and technical staff, and 35 PhD students, among others.
The laboratory is mainly organized into three research groups:
• MAMINA: Materials and Acoustics for Integrated Micro- and Nanosystems
• TPIA: Acoustic Transduction, Propagation and Imaging
• COMNUM: Digital Communications
The postdoctoral researcher will join the MAMINA group.

Constraints and risks

The position involves regular work in a cleanroom environment and strict compliance with the access, hygiene, safety, and traceability procedures specific to the technological platforms.
The activities may require the use of microfabrication equipment, chemicals, gases, vacuum processes, high temperatures, plasmas, and electrical sources. Mandatory safety training will be completed before any independent use of the relevant equipment.
The position may be subject to access regulations for restricted areas, as well as confidentiality requirements related to the research activities and the European project.
