Job Description
Missions
Develop and characterize advanced materials obtained from recycled spent zinc-carbon batteries for sustainable supercapacitor and sodium-ion battery applications using advanced physicochemical and microwave dielectric characterization techniques.
Activity
• Develop advanced carbon-based materials (graphene and related materials) derived from spent zinc-carbon batteries.
• Develop and characterize polymer electrolytes and electrode materials for supercapacitors and sodium-ion batteries.
• Perform physicochemical characterization of materials (Raman, FTIR, XRD, SEM, EDX, etc.) and analyze their properties.
• Carry out microwave dielectric characterization using the advanced measurement platforms available at IEMN and establish correlations between dielectric, structural and electrochemical properties.
• Analyze experimental results and contribute to scientific publications and presentations at international conferences.
• Participate in scientific meetings and collaborate with partners of the European LEAP-SE project.
Your Profil
Skills
PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in the development and characterization of energy storage materials.
Hands-on experience with material characterization techniques (SEM, EDX, Raman, FTIR, XRD, etc.).
Knowledge of microwave or dielectric characterization techniques would be an asset.
Excellent English communication skills, scientific writing ability, autonomy and teamwork.
Your Work Environment
The successful candidate will join the RF-2S research team within the CSAM group at the Institute of Electronics, Microelectronics and Nanotechnology (IEMN – CNRS UMR 8520, University of Lille, France) under the supervision of Prof. Kamel Haddadi.
IEMN is an internationally recognized research institute bringing together more than 450 researchers, faculty members, engineers, technicians and PhD students. Its research activities span from materials science to microelectronics, microwave engineering, nanotechnology and communication systems.
The position is funded through the LEAP-SE (Horizon Europe) project dedicated to recycling spent zinc-carbon batteries into advanced materials for sustainable energy storage in collaboration with several international academic and industrial partners.
