Job Description
Missions
The objectives of this contract are to:
• Carry out physical and electrical simulations of semiconductor devices, using TCAD tools and/or suitable analytical models
• Contribute to the analysis and optimization of device architectures based on simulation results and experimental data
• Perform static and dynamic electrical characterization of devices, including I-V and C-V measurements, breakdown voltage, on-state resistance, trapping effects, transient measurements, etc.
• Process, analyze and interpret experimental results in order to identify limiting mechanisms such as leakage currents, trapping effects, thermal effects, dispersion, degradation or electrical instabilities
• Compare simulation and characterization results in order to propose improvements to device structures and operating conditions
• Maintain technical follow-up documents and write the corresponding reports, analysis notes and summaries
• Clearly and effectively report any difficulties encountered, anomalies observed or areas for improvement identified
• Participate in technical project meetings and contribute to the scientific dissemination of the results obtained
Activity
As part of an industrial contract, our WIND research group is seeking to recruit an engineer in simulation and characterization of devices based on wide-bandgap semiconductor materials. These devices will be fabricated in the cleanroom facilities of IEMN (iemn.fr).
You will work in close collaboration with PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in order to contribute to the completion of the deliverables planned within these projects.
Your Profil
Skills
• Engineering degree or PhD required
• Experience in TCAD simulation is required
• Strong background in semiconductor device physics
• Rigor, attention to detail, flexibility, open-mindedness, team spirit and autonomy are among the key qualities expected for this position
Tools and skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools — Word, Excel and PowerPoint — and technical English
Your Work Environment
The position is part of the activities of the WIND research group. These activities are carried out in close collaboration with industrial partners and aim to push the performance and reliability limits of GaN-based wide-bandgap power devices.
This position falls within a sector subject to the French regulations on the protection of scientific and technical potential — PPST. Therefore, in accordance with the applicable regulations, your appointment will require prior authorization from the competent authority of the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research — MESR.
