Job Description
Missions
The position will involve working within the framework of the ReMB'Eau Industrial Chair project, funded by the European Metropolis of Lille and the Initiative of Excellence of the University of Lille. The successful candidate will contribute to the study of water quality characterization, as well as to the assessment of the feasibility of reusing non-conventional water resources (NCWR) at the scale of the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL).
At the core of the project, the candidate will ensure coordination between chemical, toxicological, and regulatory approaches, in close collaboration with researchers from various disciplines, local authorities, and socio-economic stakeholders. In addition, the candidate will participate in the organization of NCWR sampling campaigns.
The candidate will collaborate with teams in environmental health (LGCgE), health sciences (IMPECS, INFINITE), social sciences (TVES), analytical sciences (INRAE Arras), as well as psychological and behavioral sciences (PSITEC).
Experimental research activities will be conducted at LASIRE, within the PCE team (C8 – 2nd floor). Within LASIRE, the recruited postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for coordinating interactions between partner teams, assisting in the organization of progress meetings, and contributing to the co-supervision of interns and PhD students involved in the ReMB'Eau Chair project.
The postdoctoral researcher will also take part in the synthesis and characterization of adsorbent materials based on locally available resources. Subsequently, they will design and implement experimental setups for the treatment of NCWR, with the aim of enabling their reuse for targeted applications.
This work is part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative project. The postdoctoral researcher will also contribute to data analysis, the writing of scientific publications, and the dissemination of results at national and international conferences. The candidate will also be involved in organizing and leading science outreach activities.
Activity
Organization of progress meetings within a multidisciplinary consortium
Organization and participation in sampling campaigns of non-conventional water resources (NCWR)
Conducting water quality analyses of NCWR, including physicochemical parameters, trace metals, and organic micropollutants
Synthesis of adsorbent materials from locally available raw resources
Implementation of NCWR treatment experiments at different scales (batch tests, jar tests, and semi-industrial pilot systems)
Processing of experimental data and interpretation of results
Promotion of the ReMB'Eau Chair's activities to external audiences (website, networks, and other communication channels)
Organization of the Chair's annual conference day
Participation in the steering committee and regular reporting on planned actions and their implementation
Active involvement in the scientific life of the research team
Oral and poster presentations of results at national and international conferences
Contribution to the dissemination of results through publications in international peer-reviewed journals
Participation in the organization and facilitation of science outreach activities במסגרת the ReMB'Eau Industrial Chair
Your Profil
Skills
The position is offered for a duration of 13 months and is expected to start in November 2026. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with experience in both fieldwork and laboratory settings. More specifically, the desired qualifications and skills are as follows:
Proficiency in AFNOR standardized tools and methods for the analysis of physicochemical parameters (COD, BOD, NH₄⁺, TKN, total phosphorus, turbidity, etc.)
Strong knowledge of trace metal analysis techniques (ICP-AES, ICP-MS)
Expertise in analytical techniques for organic micropollutants (GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, etc.)
Knowledge of water treatment technologies (physicochemical treatment, biological treatment, advanced oxidation processes, nature-based solutions, etc.)
Experience in conference organization and meeting facilitation
Your Work Environment
The successful candidate will work within the framework of the ReMB'Eau Industrial Chair project, which aims to co-develop innovative solutions based on alternative resources to address the growing scarcity of water resources. The project also seeks to support stakeholders and decision-makers, while promoting a sustainable transition that respects biodiversity and public health.
Constraints and risks
The successful candidate will conduct fieldwork to perform water sampling. A valid driving license would be considered an asset.
