Missions
Design and develop technologies for obtaining high-quality assemblies of two-dimensional materials. Lead the development of manufacturing processes to obtain crystalline monolayers or few-layer crystals by exfoliation and/or other techniques (growth, transfer). Create heterostructures by stacking these single or few-layer crystals (2D/2D or 2D/3D), possibly with controlled alignment. Develop micro-nanotechnology processes for building devices from these heterostructures. These processes will be based on lithography, etching and thin-film deposition techniques.
Activités
- Optimize the fabrication of crystalline monolayers by exfoliation and/or other techniques (growth, transfer).
- Create heterostructures by stacking single or few-layer crystals into thin stacks with controlled alignment.
- Develop micro-positioning and instrument control techniques.
- Develop nanofabrication techniques using electron/optical lithography, etching and thin-film deposition.
- Control the quality of surfaces and interfaces using AFM and/or spectroscopy techniques (Raman, XPS, IR).
- Initiate, lead and/or participate in research projects in this field with various teams
Compétences
Technical skills
- Expertise of circuit manufacturing using 2D materials through exfoliation and positioning techniques
- Expertise in one or more micro- and nanofabrication techniques: optical lithography, electronic lithography, dry etching, etc.
- Expertise in one or more thin-film deposition techniques: sputtering, evaporation, etc.
Prior experience in cleanroom fabrication processes is expected in order to be quickly operational on technological realizations.
Behavioral skills
- Ability to work in a team
Required knowledge
Good knowledge of physics and nanoscience
Contexte de travail
The recruited person will work within the Micro and Nanotechnologies platform of the Solid State Physics Laboratory (LPS). The LPS is a 250-strong joint research unit located on the Orsay campus, whose scientific activities cover a wide range of topics in condensed matter physics. It houses a wide range of scientific equipment of original and often unique design. The Renatech+ network's NanoLPS platform, covering around 300 m2, houses a wide range of equipment dedicated to these technologies: vacuum deposition, optical and electronic lithography, etching, and transfer stations for 2D materials in air and in a glovebox.
