Missions

Postdoctoral researcher expected to perform electrophysiological recordings in hippocampal area CA2 and CA1 in vivo and/or in acute hippocampal slices. This is a position funded by the ANR AetaSocCog, which will investigate a novel mechanism underlying NMDA receptor regulation. These experiments will also require some basic behavioral testing as well as fundamental histological imaging.

Activités

The candidate will record synaptic and cellular activity in vivo and in acute hippocampal slices from hippocampal area CA2. Experiments will be discussed and results presented in weekly meetings with the team, and in data clubs with the Neuroscience department.

Compétences

Optimally, candidates will have experience performing electrophysiological recordings in acute brain slices. Top-ranking candidates will also have had experience perfoming in vivo recordings. Applicants are expected to perform all analysis, experimental planning and figure preparation and data organization. It is desirable for candidates to have experience working with mice and have completed European certified training for proper work with rodents in a laboratory. Candidates will be expected to communicate in written and spoken English with fellow lab members.

Contexte de travail

The lab is located in the center of Paris, at the Jussieu campus of Sorbonne University. The windows of our lab overlook the Seine river. The project of this research will be to examine hippocampal area CA2, and specifically, to examine how the environment and experience alters the physiological properties of the neurons in this region in both healthy and diseased contexts. Specifically, we will examine how NMDA receptors are modulated by the extracellular Aeta fragment. Specifically, how this fragment contributes to CA2 NMDA receptor plasticity in healthy and diseased mouse models. We are a small team consisting of one PhD, one postdoc, one technician, one assistant engineer and Rebecca Piskorowski and several interns. This position is funded by the the Agence National Recherche project AetaSocCog.
