Missions
The position is part of the Biophenol Epoxy project funded by a CNRS pre‑maturation grant. The objective is to develop and optimize the epoxidation of diisoeugenol and a “one‑pot” strategy to obtain a biosourced substitute for DGEBA that does not contain a Bisphenol A motif.
Activités
- Develop and optimize the epoxidation of diisoeugenol.
- Design and validate a “one‑pot” synthesis combining the transformation of isoeugenol and the epoxidation step.
- Implement a systematic experimental design and analyze yields and selectivities.
- Characterize products by NMR, GC‑MS, HPLC, IR and perform stability tests.
- Prepare pilot batches and coordinate sample production with an external contract manufacturer.
- Participate in coordinating in vitro toxicity tests.
- Draft standard operating procedures, technical reports, and contribute to publications and patent filings.
Compétences
• Education: PhD in organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, catalytic chemistry, or a related discipline.
• Technical skills: advanced organic synthesis, epoxy chemistry, catalysis, proficiency in NMR, GC‑MS, HPLC, IR.
• Desired experience: development of multi‑step or one‑pot processes.
• Language: fluent English.
• Attributes: autonomy, experimental rigor, team spirit, ability to synthesize results and communicate scientifically.
Contexte de travail
The position is based in the Organometallic Chemistry and Polymerization Catalysis group led by Prof. Christophe THOMAS, affiliated with UMR CNRS 8247 (IRCP) at Chimie ParisTech – PSL (Paris). You will join a multidisciplinary team of around twenty people. The work combines fundamental research and industrial valorization. The postdoctoral researcher will have access to the UMR's experimental platforms and the state‑of‑the‑art equipment of Chimie ParisTech – PSL.
