Missions
the selected candidate will have for main mission to realize source apportionment studies of submicronic particles measured by Aerosol Chemical Speciation Monitor (ACSM) and/or Mobility Particle Size Spectrometers (MPSS), in order to improve the knowledge of the origins of Organic Aerosol (OA, including secondary fraction: SOA) and Ultrafine Particles (UFP) in the Paris area. He/she will also accompany the realization of this type of study on other urban sites in Europe. He/she will also participate in the improvement of the knowledge of AOS from precursor sources from Potential Aerosol Mass experiments.
Activities
: Implementation of statistical tools of source-receptor model type, e.g., Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF), on different datasets resulting mainly from automatic measurements in ambient air. The candidate will also integrate nay coordinate a European working group to evaluate the performance of a near-real time source apportionment tool on different European pilot sites (Barcelona, Marseille, Plaine du Po, Zurich, Bucharest, Helsinki, ...).
Skills
The successful candidate will have a PhD in atmospheric chemistry, with demonstrated experience with ACSM and MPSS instruments. Experience with SoFi (Pro) software, developed by Datalystica, will be particularly appreciated. Knowledge of a data processing language (R, IGOR) is desirable. He/she must be fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Work Context
This post-doctoral work is part of several research projects that have already started :
- AO source studies will be conducted for the European H2020 "Green Deal" RI-Urbans project (https://riurbans.eu/), aiming in particular at developing the implementation of services of the Aerosols, Clouds and Reactive Gaseous Species Research Infrastructure (ACTRIS, https://www.actris.eu/) ;
- PMF analyses combining MPSS and ACSM data in Ile de France will be performed for the AQACIA/Ademe ENZU project (Evolution of the Number of Particles in Urban Areas);
- the analysis of the data related to the experiments on the formation of AOS will be developed in connection with the ANR UNREAL project.
The Experimental Atmospheric Chemistry (EAC) team of LSCE studies gaseous and particulate reactive compounds by characterizing their sources, transformations and impact on atmospheric chemistry and climate. For this, the team implements measurements of these compounds both in the long term at the peri-urban station SIRTA-LSCE and also during measurement campaigns in various environments
