Missions

Analyze the composition of Titan's atmosphere using data returned by the Cassini-Huygens Mission

Activities

-Implement a mass spectrometry inversion model
-Retrieved archived data from the mission and identify the treatment priorities
-Apply inversion model to flight data
-Determine vertical and temporal variation of Titan atmospheric composition

Skills

-Ph.D. in planetary science
-Deep understanding of Titan's atmosphere. Previous work on Cassini flight data is appreciated.
-Experience in scientific computer simulation (Matlab, Python, Fortran) and space mission data inversion.
-Team work, autonomy and scientific rigor
-Good knowledge of English (written and spoken) for scientific communications. French is not mandatory but would be useful for everyday interaction within the lab.

Work Context

LATMOS is a laboratory co-lead by CNRS, UVSQ, Sorbonne Universté, and CNES. The position is open in the PLANETO department (~10 tenured researchers and ~20 Ph.D. students and postdocs) which focuses on planetary atmosphere characterization through space mission, numerical and laboratory simulations. The successful candidate will interact on a regular basis with the atmosphere and the exobiology teams within the department. A close interaction will also be with a Ph.D. student and a researcher on similar research projects.
