Job Description
Missions
As part of a PEPR-France 2030 project conducted in collaboration with several universities and industrial partners, the research will focus on developing new catalytic materials and processes for the synthesis of sustainable fuels from CO and CO2 via the Fischer-Tropsch reaction.
Activity
The researcher will:
- Prepare Fischer-Tropsch catalysts;
- Characterize catalysts using a combination of physicochemical methods (XRD, FTIR, TPR, XPS, imaging);
- Conduct Fischer-Tropsch reactions in a high-pressure reactor;
- Develop methods for analyzing reaction products using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry;
- Travel to attend project meetings and perform short-term collaborative work in the laboratories of academic and industrial partners;
- Present results in English and draft corresponding activity reports and scientific publications related to their work.
Your Profil
Skills
-PhD in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
-Expertise in the preparation and chemistry of heterogeneous catalysts.
-Experience and proficiency in operating catalytic reactors under pressure.
- Proficiency in catalyst characterization techniques using in situ and operando methods.
- Experience in catalytic reaction kinetics.
- Proficiency in analyzing hydrocarbons and oxygenates using gas chromatography and mass spectrometry.
- Strong communication skills (oral, written, presentation).
- Fluency in English; French is optional.
Your Work Environment
The Unit of Catalysis and Chemistry of Solids (UCCS, UMR 8181 CNRS) brings together 105 researchers and faculty members, 32 technical and administrative staff, an average of 80 PhD students, and 20 postdoctoral researchers. The unit has multiple sites in the Lille and Lens regions. The researcher will work at the Villeneuve d'Ascq site, located at the University of Lille and Centrale Lille.
The scientific activities of UCCS cover three main areas: heterogeneous catalysis, molecular catalysis and chemistry, and solid-state chemistry. Within the "Heterogeneous Catalysis" axis, the researcher will work under the supervision of Dr. Andrei Khodakov and Dr. Vitaly Ordomsky. Catalyst preparation and catalytic testing will be carried out in the laboratories of the Catalysis Pilot Hall or at Centrale Lille.
As part of the project, the candidate will participate in progress meetings held in Lille or at other partner laboratories, where they will present their results. Additionally, the researcher may be required to attend national or international conferences to present the obtained findings.
This position is subject to regulations concerning the protection of scientific and technical potential. Therefore, employment is contingent upon prior authorization from the competent authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research.
