Job Description
Missions
Synthesis and characterization of new chiral π-conjugated systems based on cyclooctatetraene.
Collaboration with experts in chiral spectroscopy and theoretical modeling.
Involvement in writing scientific articles and giving oral presentations.
Activity
Synthetic organic chemistry.
Photophysical studies (absorption, fluorescence and phosphorescence emission, steady-state and time-resolved, in solution and thin film, etc.).
Electrochemical studies (cyclic voltammetry, differential pulse voltammetry, etc.). Supervisory activities.
Molecular modeling.
Your Profil
Skills
The successful candidate must hold a PhD in organic chemistry, preferably with a specialization in the field of π-conjugated materials. Solid experience in the synthesis of π-conjugated systems, particularly chiral emissive materials, is essential. Proven skills in the photophysical, electrochemical, and morphological characterization of organic materials are also required. Experience in molecular modeling (DFT, TD-DFT, etc.) would be a valuable asset. Proficiency in scientific English (written and spoken) is mandatory. This position is intended for a dynamic, independent, and highly motivated individual with a strong interest in fundamental research in the field of organic electronics and functional chiral systems.
Your Work Environment
The French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) is a major global player in fundamental research and the only French organization active across all scientific disciplines. Its unique position as a multidisciplinary institution allows it to bring together various scientific fields to shed light on and address the challenges of the modern world, in collaboration with public and socio-economic stakeholders. In this context, the CNRS is closely involved in academic research through joint research units (UMRs) hosted on various campuses.
One such unit is the Institut Lavoisier de Versailles (ILV), a CNRS/UVSQ UMR created in 2006 that brings together all chemists at the Université de Versailles Saint-Quentin (UVSQ). The institute is located on the Faculty of Science campus and occupies the entire Lavoisier building, with a surface area of 3,900 m², including 1,620 m² of laboratories and 941 m² of offices. We benefit from a high-quality working environment equipped with modern and well-suited research infrastructure.
ILV is organized into three teams comprising a total of 55 permanent staff members (researchers, teacher-researchers, and research support staff):
EPI (Electrochemistry and Physicochemistry at Interfaces, led by Anne-Marie Goncalves)
MIM (Molecules, Interactions, Materials, led by Emmanuel Cadot)
SORG (Versailles Organic Synthesis, led by Xavier Moreau)
These teams are involved in the following research areas:
EPI: interfacial electrochemistry; surface and interface physicochemistry; electron spectroscopy
MIM: inorganic molecules, molecular materials — synthesis, properties, and characterization
SORG: catalysis and heterocycles; fluorinated compounds and photo-induced processes; molecular materials — design and applications; valorization of natural products and industrial applications
The recruited candidate will join this last team, SORG, and more specifically the “molecular materials” research axis led by Professor Kreher. The successful applicant will be part of the PSINANO project.
Please note that this position is located in a sector covered by the protection of scientific and technical potential (PPST), and therefore, in accordance with regulations, your appointment must be authorized by the competent authority of the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).
