Missions

The candidate will be expected to carry out research on the theory of mental files, and specifically on the problems of cognitive dynamics outlined by F. Recanati in his book Mental Files in Flux (Oxford 2016), at both inter-individual and intra-individual levels. At the same time, he or she will be assisting François Recanati with his research and teaching.

Activities

Theoretical research, leading to the submission and publication of scientific articles; participation in colloquia; organisation of scientific events; running of seminars; supervision of students; participation in research-related administrative tasks.

Skills

Candidates must be accomplished researchers specialising in the philosophy of language and mind, with a thesis in the field and a track record of scientific publications in A-rank international journals. Training in cognitive science desirable. French/English bilingualism required. Website skills desirable.

Work Context

The candidate will work at the Institut Jean Nicod, UMR CNRS/ENS/EHESS housed at the Ecole normale supérieure (Ulm), as part of the "Mind and Language" team headed by François Recanati. Part of the work will take place at the Collège de France (Chair of Philosophy of Language and Mind) as part of the ERC project MENTAL FILES: NEW FOUNDATIONS.
