Develop a theoretical model, jointly from mathematical economics and theoretical ecology, based on Weitzman's seminal model (The Noah's Ark Problem, Econometrica, 1989) and subsequent literature, in the sense of taking into account functional interdependence between species within an ecosystem, rather than based on the iconic species criterion as used by Weitzman. The expectation here is the publication of at least one theoretical article in a high-level journal in the field.
The postdoctoral researcher, on the basis of his or her proven computer simulation skills, will test his or her model on real marine ecological data. The expectation here is therefore an integration between this theoretical and numerical simulation work and the publication around this more applied work.


The missions take place within a large European project: HORIZON-CL6-2021-BIODIV-01-03- BIOOCEAN 5D: " MARINE BIODIVERSITY ASSESSMENT AND PREDICTION ACROSS SPATIAL, TEMPORAL AND HUMAN SCALES ". The interaction between various teams in this project are to be expected, in particular, around the development of the model and its simulation from real data in marine ecology in which other teams are experts. The supervisor in theoretical ecology will be able to facilitate these interactions. In addition to the publication of articles, public communications in the framework of the project meetings or outside will take place.


The candidate must show high level skills in at least one of the following areas: mathematics (combinatorial analysis, nonlinear optimization); mathematical economics, theoretical ecology + have proven advanced skills in computer simulation. This must be evidenced by prior work or positions and relevant recommendations.

The postdoctoral researcher will be able to establish his/her fixed point on either of two sites and the research will be co-supervised by two PIs:
