Job Description
Missions
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out experiments in molecular biology, cell biology, and, in particular, biochemistry. They will regularly present their data both orally and in writing. They will be expected to develop new techniques and new cell lines within the laboratory and will work closely with the team's PhD student. The successful candidate will also be involved in transferring technical knowledge and training new members of the team.
Activity
Activity 1: Design and perform experimental approaches in the following areas:
- Cell culture and differentiation: production and characterization of cell lines generated using CRISPR/Cas9.
- Cell imaging: immunostaining; different image acquisition modalities; image analysis.
- Molecular biology: plasmid construction and characterization; PCR and qPCR; reverse transcription.
- Biochemistry: Western blotting; immunoprecipitation (co-IP, ChIP).
Activity 2: Analyze, interpret, and validate results
- Use appropriate software to analyze, interpret, and validate experimental results.
Activity 3: Conduct literature reviews
- Carry out literature reviews in order to gain a thorough understanding of new research topics and to support the development of new methodologies.
Activity 4: Train and supervise team members
- Train and support team members in techniques and equipment related to cell culture and imaging, molecular biology, and biochemistry.
- Work closely with the team's PhD student.

Skills
Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry.
Technical skills:
- Ability to independently carry out the activities described above.
Personal and professional qualities:
- Rigor and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team while respecting individual differences and maintaining the highest standards of scientific integrity.
- Ability to work in English, both written and spoken, in a professional context.
- Ability to formulate scientific questions and associated hypotheses, design rigorous experiments to address these questions, carry out experiments, and analyze the results.
- Scientific writing skills and ability to prepare scientific figures.
Your Work Environment
Working Environment and Resources:
The position includes access to a dedicated office space and laboratory bench for the individual's work.
Resources provided (equipment, IT, etc.):
Access to a personal computer and to all of the team's scientific equipment, as well as shared equipment and facilities at the Cochin Institute.
Main Contacts
Within the team:
- The team leaders, who provide direction for the scientific projects.
- All members of the team, for technical support, training of new team members, and management of consumables, reagents, antibodies, cell lines, and databases.
Within the Cochin Institute:
- Staff working in the platforms, technical facilities, and support services (stores, media preparation, administration, IT, technical services, Human Resources), with whom the successful candidate will interact in order to carry out the team's projects successfully.
Constraints and risks
Occasional minimal work on weekends may be required.
