Job Description
Missions
• Participate to the establishment of a new team and contribute to research projects on Transcriptional regulation and cell plasticity.
• Setting up and optimize experimental approaches to study lineage transitions (EMT, differentiation, reprogramming).
• Participate to the conception and realization of experimental approaches in molecular and cell biology
• Develop and maintain reporter cell lines and 3D models (human and mouse gastruloids, organoids).
• Provide technical and scientific support for team projects (from experimental design to data analysis).
• Supervise and train students, PhD candidates, and new staff in the laboratory's core techniques.
Activity
• Culture and manipulation of murine stem cell lines.
• Generation and validation of clonal lines (CRISPR/Cas9, transfection, cloning).
• Monitoring and maintenance of cell collections and reporter lines.
• Performing molecular biology experiments: DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, cloning, Western blot, immunofluorescence.
• Participation in imaging experiments (confocal microscopy, time-lapse imaging, light-sheet microscopy where relevant).
• Collaboration with sequencing or imaging platforms for sample preparation (ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq, RNA-seq, STARR-seq, etc.).
• Management of laboratory stocks, orders, and overall organization.
• Writing protocols and ensuring experimental traceability.
Your Profil
Skills
Required skills:
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (PCR, cloning, nucleic acid extraction, qPCR).
• Demonstrated experience in cell culture.
• Experimental rigor, scientific integrity, and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, with respect, inclusivity, and professionalism.
• Proficiency in English (minimum B2 level).
Desired / advantageous skills:
• Experience handling embryonic stem cells or induced pluripotent stem cells.
• Generation of stable cell lines.
• 3D culture systems (organoids, gastruloids).
• Imaging techniques (confocal microscopy, fluorescence microscopy, live imaging).
• Knowledge of developmental biology or transcriptional regulation.
• Laboratory management or technical coordination skills.
Your Work Environment
Institut Cochin is a biomedical research center jointly administered by Inserm, CNRS, and Université Paris Cité. Institut Cochin brings together 34 research teams and 10 core facilities.
The team “Genome Regulation, Cellular and Tissue Plasticity” investigates how genomic regulatory networks control cell state transitions during development and in pathological contexts. The proposed position will support the establishment of the team and will further develop the group's technical expertise in cell and molecular biology approaches applied to enhancer regulation and cellular plasticity.
The engineer will contribute to the development of innovative cellular models (reporter cell lines, gastruloids) and participate in collaborative projects integrating imaging, genetics, biochemistry, and sequencing. This position offers a stimulating scientific environment and strong potential for growth toward technical leadership and project coordination responsibilities within a newly established team at Institut Cochin, in a collegial, supportive, and rigorous setting.
