Missions
The researcher will be part of the ANR PROVIRCAP team under the scientific responsibility of Laure Bereni (coordinator of the ANR), at the Centre Maurice Halbwachs. This research program funded by the ANR studies "responsible capitalism" by focusing on CSR managers (https://anr.fr/Projet-ANR-20-CE26-0012). The researcher will conduct interviews with CSR managers (about 30) and observations of professional events (about 10), in the Paris region and if possible in Spain (Madrid, Barcelona). She will participate in team meetings and seminars. She will contribute with other members of the consortium to the management tasks of the project (preparation and animation of meetings, seminars, events related to the research, etc.).
Activities
-Support to the project coordination, with Laure Bereni: maintenance of the ANR blog, organization and animation of meetings and seminars.
-Interviews with CSR managers (N=30)
-Observations of CSR practitioners events (N=10)
-Drafting of reports on the interviews and observations carried out
-Analysis of the field materials collected
-Participation in the communication and publication of the research findings
Even though this is a full-time position, the researcher will have 20% of his/her working time available to work on his/her own research and applications for permanent academic positions.
Skills
-Knowledge and experience of research in the sociology of work, management professionals, organizations and, if possible, CSR
-Knowledge and experience of conducting sociological interviews and ethnographic fieldwork
-Experience in studying corporate environments
-Very good writing skills
-Oral fluency in Spanish is an asset
Work Context
-Coordinated by Laure Bereni (CNRS-CMH), the ANR PROVIRCAP program gathers 9 scholars: Pauline Barraud de Lagerie (Université Paris Dauphine-IRISSO), Élodie Béthoux (Université de Versailles-Saint-Quentin-PRINTEMPS), Anne Bory (Université de Lille-CLERSÉ), Frédérique Déjean (Université Paris Dauphine-DRM), Thomas Depecker (INRAE-CMH), Sophie Dubuisson-Quellier (CNRS-CSO), Élise Penalva-Icher (Université Paris Dauphine-IRISSO) and Scarlett Salman (Université de Marne-la-Vallée-LISIS).
-The researcher will be based at the Centre Maurice Halbwachs (CMH), 48 boulevard Jourdan, 75014 Paris. The CMH is a CNRS/ENS/EHESS research center. It is composed of sociologists, political scientists, historians and anthropologists. Its singularity lies in the analysis of social structure and inequalities. It relies on a solid capacity for methodological innovation, combining both quantitative and qualitative methods, at the national level as well as in international comparisons.
-The researcher will work under the scientific responsibility of Laure Bereni, DR CNRS, member of the CMH. She will have a workstation in a shared office.
-The costs related to the research (field missions, transcriptions of interviews, etc.) will be covered.
Constraints and risks
Part of the interviews might be carried out in Spain, which potentially implies missions in this country
