Missions
Post-doctoral scientist in evolutionary genomics for studying fungal sex chromosomes using evolutionary approaches, in the Ecologie Systématique and Evolution laboratory at the Paris Saclay University, France.
Activities
-Analyses of sex chromosomes using large NGS datasets of fungal genomes Illumina, PacBio and MinION (SNPs, structural variants, transposable elements, pan-genomeancestral recombination graph, methylation, …)
- Analyses of evolutionary genomics (phylogenomics, orthology, selection, synteny)
-Possibly contribution to data production (strain collection and culture, DNA extraction, MinION sequencing)
-Scientific publication writing.
-Implementation of new approaches in evolutionary genomics.
-Implementation of reliability of results
- Critical analysis of the results
- Contribution to lab member formation
Skills
- Evolutionary genomics analyses on large NGS datasets
-Knowledge on coding (C ,C++, or java), script writing (python, perl), R software and shell Unix
- Good communication of scientific results
-Knowledge on evolution, statistics, evolutionary genomics (phylogenomics, orthology, selection, synteny, SNPs, structural variants, transposable elements, pan-genome, ancient recombination graphs and/or methylation)
-Skills in release of analytical pipelines into public repositories such as GitHub
-Skills in figure generation for representing data (e.g. in R)
- Fluent English (writing and speaking)
-Being rigorous, efficient and autonomous
-Excellent ability to work collaboratively in a team
Work Context
The Ecologie Systematique and Evolution department is located in the Paris Saclay University in Gif-sur-Yvette (South of Paris, France) and conduct research in ecology and evolution, including 125 scientists and technicians, a greenhouse and molecular biology labs. The post-doctoral scientist will work in Tatiana Giraud's team within an ERC project aiming at studying the evolution of sex-related chromosomes. The post-doctoral scientist will be initially hired for 12 months, that can be extended for at least two additional years
