Missions
This project, aimed at improving molecular phylogeny approaches applied to macroevolutionary questions related to a better understanding of the tree of life, will involve the development and application of complex sequence evolution models (mixture models) and molecular dating, within both maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference frameworks.
Activités
- Data mining in genome databases.
- Large-scale phylogeny reconstruction (archaea, bacteria, and eukaryotes).
- Implementation of complex sequence evolution models and application to molecular dating.
- Use of protein structural data as phylogenetic markers.
- Comparative genomics.
Compétences
- Strong experience in bioinformatics, particularly in molecular phylogeny and comparative genomics.
- Programming skills (e.g., Python, Perl, R…).
- Biostatistics.
- Good knowledge of microbial diversity and the phylogenetic tree of life.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
- Presentation and communication skills, autonomy, organizational ability, and critical thinking.
Contexte de travail
The Ecology, Society and Evolution (ESE) unit is a CNRS – University of Paris-Saclay – AgroParisTech laboratory, located on the University of Paris-Saclay campus in Gif-sur-Yvette, 20 km south of Paris. A suburban train connects the campus to Paris.
The recruited person will join the DEEM – Diversity, Ecology and Evolution of Microbes team (http://www.deemteam.fr/en/), which focuses on the diversity and evolution of microorganisms, using molecular phylogeny and comparative genomics approaches.
