The project "DRafting and Enacting the revolutions in the Arab Mediterranean (DREAM)" funded by the European Research Council (ERC) will start on 1 September 2018 at the Marc Bloch Centre. This 5-year research programme (2018-2023) focuses on revolutionary movements and popular revolts in the Arab Mediterranean world since the 1950s. It is a historical anthropology project that aims to study the genesis of the claim to dignity in contemporary revolutions. The project articulates a work on archives (their collection, deposit, recension and comprehension, in situ production) and a research on the springs of mobilizations and the political emotions through which they are expressed. The team, led by Leyla Dakhli, researcher at the CNRS, brings together a dozen researchers specializing in the region or revolutions.

Post-doctoral student will have to register his/her research within the framework of the DREAM project. While conducting his/her own research activities, he/she should be available to carry out prospecting and survey missions in the countries concerned (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon) for a period ranging from a few days to a few weeks. He/she will join the DREAM project team and participate in group activities. In this context, he/she will be asked to help organize scientific events and coordinate research and publications.

PhD. in contemporary history, anthropology, political science or sociology of the Arab world completed between November 14, 2013 and November 14, 2019.
To have a research project corresponding to the DREAM project and be familiar with at least one of the countries covered by the project (Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria).
Proficiency in at least one regional language (Arabic or Amazigh dialect) and/or classical Arabic.
Proof of a good command of the English language, and of the possible use of French as a language of communication (at least in a passive form, in order to be able to fit into the host laboratory).
Application (written in English or French):
- Cover letter
- Curriculum vitae and list of publications
- Research project (10 pages maximum)
- Copy of the thesis degree (with thesis report, if applicable).
