Missions
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position in statistical physics, disordered systems, random matrices, and out-of-equilibrium physics—both quantum and classical. This postdoctoral position is funded by the French National Research Agency (ANR) as part of the project "Dynamics of Extremes and Interacting Particle Systems," a collaboration involving S. N. Majumdar (LPTMS-Orsay), G. Schehr (LPTHE-Sorbonne Université), D. S. Dean (LOMA-Bordeaux), and P. Le Doussal (LPENS). The selected candidate will actively contribute to this project.
Activités
The primary goal of the project is to study the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of particle systems, with a particular focus on extreme value dynamics, large deviations, and counting statistics. The aim is to develop new theoretical tools and explore connections with other fields, such as random matrix theory, classical and quantum growth processes, as well as integrable and disordered systems.
This project includes applications to active matter, Coulomb systems, diffusion in random media, classical and quantum reset processes, and entanglement dynamics. Special emphasis is placed on bridging analytical methods, numerical simulations, and experiments, and the selected candidate will have the opportunity to develop these different approaches.
Compétences
Application Requirements
Applications must include:
A CV,
A publication list,
A summary of past research,
A statement of future research interests.
These documents should be sent by email to Grégory Schehr (schehr@lpthe.jussieu.fr).
Applicants must also arrange for three recommendation letters to be sent to the same address.
The deadline for applications is around May 15, 2025.
Contexte de travail
This is a 10-month position, with an expected start date in November 2025. The selected candidate will spend the full 10-month period at the Laboratoire de Physique de l'École Normale Supérieure (LPENS).
The successful applicant will benefit from the stimulating research environment of the ENS Physics Department, with access to its world-class facilities and collaborative networks.
