Job Description
Missions
A semiconductor-based technology platform for intense and short pulse generation in the mid-wave infrared (MWIR, 3-6µm), a spectral range with countless molecular signatures and transparent atmospheric windows, has yet to be realized. The post-doc will be involved in an ANR project aiming at realizing such sources. She/He will be in charge of the modeling of linear and nonlinear optical response of TMD materials with particular interest in their role as saturation absorber.
Activity
The postdoc will be in charge of the modelling of the various pertinent parameters underlying the linear and nonlinear optical response of 2D materials, working in close collaboration with partners doing the experiments on such systems.
Your Profil
Skills
The position requires :
-strong knowledge and experience in the calculations of optoelectronic properties of low dimension structures
- knowledge of 2D materials properties
- good autonomy and initiative to work in a multidisciplinary environment and to interact with experimantalist
- good communication skills (written and oral) in English
Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized Ph.D.-equivalent degree (or one that will be completed in the near future) in Condensed Matter Physics prior to taking up the position.
Your Work Environment
This work will be funded by the ANR project 2D-IR-Power coordinated by Sukhdeep Dhillon. The work will be carried out in the LPENS Condensed Matter Theory team as part of its current activities on optoelectronic properties of nanostructured materials. The French consortium, of which the LPENS is the coordinator, is made up of 4 partners : LPENS (Paris), IES (Montpellier), SPINTEC-CEA (Grenoble) and mirSense (high-tech French company specializing in mid-infrared lasers).
