Job Description

Missions

Institut de Chimie Physique, Orsay / Université Paris-Saclay is seeking a highly motivated candidate with expertise in all inorganic and hybrid perovskite synthesis, physical chemistry, transient absorption spectroscopy, CO₂ reduction, biomass valorization, HPLC analysis, and photocatalysis. This position offers the opportunity to work in collaboration with top academic partners across France. A solid experience in synthesizing perovskites and their application will be a key asset for this role. Activity

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for synthesizing materials, characterizing them, and evaluating their photo- and photoelectrocatalytic performance. They will be expected to manage the project according to defined deadlines, including preparing monthly reports in English. The candidate will also serve as a liaison between project partners and will present results to the project coordinators.

Your Profil

Skills

You hold a PhD in physics, physical chemistry, materials science, or a related field. You have solid hands-on experience in material synthesis. Experience in the preparation of photoactive materials and/or in photoelectrochemistry would be considered an asset. The position requires a high level of experimental skills to operate sophisticated instruments, as well as strong analytical abilities to interpret measured data and design innovative experiments. You are a team player with strengths in taking personal responsibility, a strong motivation for innovation, excellence, and flexibility to work and achieve results. Strong communication skills in English are essential. Proficiency in French is not required.

Your Work Environment

The “Institut de Chimie Physique, UMR 8000 CNRS, Université Paris-Saclay” provides full characterization equipment, which includes the majority of the necessary equipment for the project, such as TEM, Time-Resolved Photoluminescence spectroscopy (TRPL, ns), Transient Absorption Spectroscopy (TAS, ps, fs), photocatalytic reactors, micro-gas-chromatography coupled mass-spectroscopy (microGC-MS), MicroGC, (photo)-electrochemical cell, Photon-to-Current Efficiency (IPCE) measurement with an action-spectra analysis (tuneable from the UV to the NIR), UV-visible spectroscopy (for solid and liquid) and FTIR spectrometer.
