Missions

At the Institut de Chimie-Physique (ICP) in Orsay, you will join the “Dynamics and function of redox proteins and oxidative stress” team, which studies the mechanisms of redox proteins involved in defense systems, in particular their response to oxidative stress induced, for example, during anticancer radiotherapy treatments.
Using an experimental approach combining microbiology, cell biology and biochemistry, you will help to elucidate the effects of different modes of irradiation on neutrophils and their defense capacity.
Your main tasks will involve carrying out irradiation experiments on human neutrophils or cell lines, then analyzing their effects at cellular and subcellular levels.

Activités

Implementation of cell biology and biochemistry techniques, including :
- Implementation of cell biology techniques: cell preparation (cell lines or purification from healthy donor blood)
- Monitoring of irradiation or pulsed radiolysis experiments
- Biochemistry techniques (SDS PAGE, BN-PAGE, western blot)
- Fluorescence microscopy
- Flow cytometry
- Immunofluorescence
- UV/Visible spectroscopy

Compétences

We are looking for someone with a solid background in cell biology and biochemistry.
The following skills and qualities are expected:
- Good knowledge of irradiation techniques (especially gamma) and dosimetry concepts
- Experience in neutrophil purification from healthy donor blood
- Working knowledge of cell line culture and manipulation
- Work in a sterile environment
- Proficiency in data processing tools (Excel, etc.)
- Good understanding of scientific English, both written and spoken
- Experimental rigor and organizational skills
- Ability to supervise trainees

Contexte de travail

You will be based at the Institut de Chimie-Physique (ICP), located on the Université Paris-Saclay campus, a state-of-the-art research environment with modern equipment, particularly for irradiation studies (pulsed radiolysis, gamma sources, etc.).
You will work in the “Biochemistry of redox proteins and oxidative stress” team, headed by Laura Baciou, in collaboration with Chantal Houée-Levin for radiobiological aspects, and with Sophie Dupré-Crochet (Université Versailles-Saint-Quentin) for certain cellular aspects of the project.
