Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral researcher will develop experimental approaches for selecting peptides and RNA within peptide–RNA coacervates. The aim is to identify sequences that promote the formation, stability, and functional properties of biomimetic compartments.
Activity
The successful candidate will prepare peptide and RNA libraries, establish peptide–RNA coacervate systems, and characterize their formation, stability, and organization. They will develop iterative cycles of selection, recovery, amplification, and reinjection, and analyze the results using microscopy, electrophoresis, molecular biology, and quantitative methods.
Your Profil
Skills
A PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, physical chemistry, or a related field is required. Experience with RNA, nucleic acid–peptide interactions, coacervates, microscopy, or molecular selection methods is expected. Skills in programming, image analysis, or sequencing data processing would be an advantage.
Your Work Environment
The position will be based in the Synthetic Biosystems team at the BIOC laboratory, a joint CNRS–École polytechnique research unit in Palaiseau, under the scientific supervision of Philippe Nghe. The team studies RNA reaction networks, self-reproducing ribozymes, and compartments formed by phase separation.
Constraints and risks
The position involves regular experimental work in the laboratory and the handling of peptides, RNA, and standard biochemical reagents. Safety procedures, personal protective equipment, and mandatory regulatory training must be observed.
