Missions

As part of an ANR project involving the advanced tissue microscopy team at the Optics and Biosciences Laboratory (LOB) at École Polytechnique and the neurogenesis and circuit development group at the Institut de la Vision (IDV), we are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to work on the computer simulation of the development of connections in the Medial Nucleus of the Trapeziod Body (MNTB), a mouse auditory relay. His/her mission will be to bring together what is known about the different mechanisms involved in this process in a computer simulation platform, and use it to explore the hypotheses made and understand complex data acquired in the project elsewhere.

Activités

- To understand in detail the state of knowledge on the development of the MNTB and its connections to the Cochlear Nucleus (CN), and to review the state of the art of the numerous efforts to simulate brain development - To develop a simulation platform based on these existing efforts that summarizes the development of the connection between the CN and the MNTB - To explore these simulations and the different mechanisms and hypotheses proposed, to understand how two types of constraints, topological and topographical, are satisfied. In particular, use recent statistical learning methods for simulation. - Make links with the experimental part of the project, which will provide unique micro-connectomics data.

Compétences

The ideal candidate would have experience in modeling complex biological systems, ideally in neuroscience, very good programming skills in Python and an open mind ready to be integrated into a highly interdisciplinary collaboration. Knowledge and/or interest in machine learning and image/data analysis would be a plus.

Contexte de travail

The position is located at LOB in Palaiseau, but with strong links to Jean Livet's team at IDV. It will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary effort involving experimental and computational biologists, physicists and data analysis specialists. It is based on the development of imaging technologies enabling the study of brain tissue development via 3D subcellular volume resolution mapping up to a whole mouse brain marked by a multicolor Brainbow approach. The position is located in a sector covered by the Protection of Scientific and Technical Potential (PPST), and therefore requires, in accordance with regulations, your arrival to be authorized by the competent MESR authority.
