Job Description
Missions
Study of water wave propagation over meta-bathymetry in linear and nonlinear regimes
Activity
Experimental and theoretical study
Your Profil
Skills
Knowledge of fluid mechanics and wave propagation in general, and of surface of water in particular. Experimental expertise (wave generator, video systems for recording free surface displacement, basic instruments, etc.). Knowledge of Matlab or Python for data processing and results analysis. Theoretical knowledge of waves and their propagation.
Your Work Environment
The Mondes team, Manipulations d'Ondes à la Surface de l'eau, is interested in wave propagation in complex media, particularly with the presence of a microstructure to control and/or modify the propagation of a water wave, or with resonators similar to Helmholtz resonators.
Controlling water waves has two purposes: recovering wave energy on the one hand, and protecting the coast from the sea on the other. Our approach uses metamaterials, i.e., submerged microstructured systems that have a significant effect on the propagation of surface waves. Their characteristic size must be small compared to the wavelength of the water waves, i.e., a few mm for our experimental installations. Different configurations can be studied.
