Job Description
Missions
We are looking for a candidate to investigate strategies of microbial carbon- and iron metabolism in contrasting regions of the Southern Ocean. The postdoctoral researcher will explore already existing meta-genomes, using up-to-date bioinformatics tools.
Activity
The postdoctoral associate will explore the genes and pathways associated to carbon and iron metabolism of heterotrophic prokaryotes using already existing meta-genomes originating from contrasting sites in the Southern Ocean. The candidate will apply up-to-date bioinformatics tools to identify the genes of interest and to describe their spatial patterns in varying environmental conditions.
Your Profil
Skills
A doctoral degree in aquatic microbial ecology and experience in high-throughput sequencing data analysis and statistical tools (familiarity with the UNIX terminal environment; management of big data on clusters; running of Perl & Python scripts) are expected.
The ability to integrate in a research team and to work independently are expected.
Your Work Environment
The successful candidate will integrate to the research unit « Microbial Oceanography - LOMIC : http://lomic.obs-banyuls.fr » in Banyuls sur mer, and thereby interact with a diverse team of investigators with expertise in marine biogeochemistry, marine microbial ecology and diversity, and physiology of key microbial model organisms.
