Contexte de travail
Within multidisciplinary institutions such as ESPCI Paris – PSL and Chimie Paris – PSL, where instrumental development is essential to research, the Mechanical Engineering Department designs and manufactures innovative prototypes for physics, chemistry, and biology laboratories. These projects, of varying durations, are growing rapidly: from 140 to 200 per year since 2019.
Assigned to the SIMM laboratory (UMR 7615), the candidate will work under the supervision of the department head. Activities are shared between several UMRs hosted at ESPCI Paris – PSL and Chimie Paris – PSL, with occasional collaborations (C3RMF, CPCV, IPGG).
The design engineer will be responsible for designing the mechanical components of scientific experiments. They will collaborate with researchers and doctoral students to define needs and establish specifications. They will model the prototypes in CAD (Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks). The engineer will submit the model for approval, then oversee the design and production monitoring, either in-house or through subcontracting.
The team consists of four employees, supervised by the department head. Remote working is permitted in accordance with CNRS regulations.
The department has a design office and a fully equipped workshop: a DMG 5-axis machining center with Lang vises, a DMG 2.5-axis digital lathe, a Trotec CO₂ laser cutter, a Wazer Pro waterjet cutter, FDM/DLP 3D printers, and CAM via SolidCAM.
Eventually, the employee will join the Research Support Unit (UAR) currently being created, a joint venture between ESPCI Paris – PSL and Chimie Paris – PSL.
